Abstract
The article justifies the thesis that school education can never be neutral by examining the political location of schools at the level of the institution, at the level of citizenship education and at the level of teachers’ actions. The myth of ‘neutrality’ emerges as a political strategy that primarily aims to banish critical viewpoints from schools and pedagogical action.
