Abstract

The article discusses philosophical concepts of transnational citizenship in contemporary border regimes. After an initial explanation of the functions of citizenship and human rights in border regimes, I lean on Hannah Arendt’s formula of the right to have rights as a model of transnational citizenship. Subsequently, I analyze some ethical-political and pedagogical extensions of this formula as central elements of emancipatory transformation processes.
