Abstract
The advisory service of the Swiss Evaluation Society (SEVAL) was established in 2021 in response to widespread attempts of commissioners to exert undue influence on evaluations. Its aim is to support evaluators with professional, legal, and ethical issues, contribute to quality assurance, and offer mediation in case of conflicts. Despite its proven relevance, the demand for advice and support in cases improper influence remains low, likely due to fear of professional repercussions. However, there is considerable demand for advice on a broad range of other evaluation-related issues. The advisory service follows a low-threshold, confidential approach and offers SEVAL members a free initial consultation of up to three hours. Extended consultations are subject to a fee. The model could also serve as a blueprint for other professional associations, such as DeGEval.
