Perception of Organizational Frameworks, Satisfaction of the Need for Autonomy, and Teachers’ Emotional Exhaustion

Abstract

This article examines how school principals’ transformational leadership can contribute to reducing teachers’ emotional exhaustion. The longitudinal study with 1217 teachers shows that the relationship between transformational leadership and the decrease of emotional exhaustion is mediated by the perception of clear organizational framework conditions and areas of responsibilities, as well as the satisfaction of teachers’ need for autonomy.
